Fashion, as I stated, is everywhere. It is on the streets every day. It is on all the social media platforms we all wake up to, dedicate a lot of our free time to, and shut our eyes to. It is on all the TV and computer screens, in the movies and TV series we indulge in when relaxing in our spare time. It is all different, for styles are unique as are the people who embellish in its following. Some styles are common and followed by many, whilst others are slightly more avant-garde, as is the photography depicting it. As a photographer who has been shooting fashion for both magazines, TV shows as well as commercial clients, the style created has to go hand in hand with the theme and feel, of course always following on the direction given to me by my client. Some clients may want the shoot to take place in a studio, others outdoors. Some may want it dark and moody whilst others may want it bright and jolly. Some may require a natural light approach whilst others may require a highly lit approach. It all changes according to the direction and it is according to that direction that I plan the photoshoot.

Why Would you need a fashion approach?

Fashion Photography, just like portrait photography attracts a variety of clientele. The main difference is the key subject. Were as in Portraiture the subject trends to be the person, in fashion, the key subject is the product, be they clothes, jewellery, or make-up amongst many other products the client may have. You may wish to promote the products available in your store, or you may be a designer with a new range of outfits that deserve a themed styled shoot so as to promote it. You may also be a stylist who is using a designer's selection for a magazine, publication, or even your social media platform and web store. You may also be a model seeking to create a vaster portfolio. The process starts with you contacting me. Why use a fake medium when you can use an original?

Photography has different mediums and formats, different approaches and with digital it has become quite common to try and replicate a feel that is based on an original analog medium. But why would you want that when we can use the original format? I am not only a trained photographer, but also trained in the use of analog mediums, with the ability to process my own film and have access to the use of a darkroom. If you want something that looks vintage and based on a traditional medium, don’t make a copy. Create an original.
